I arrived with another couple at around noon on a Friday. The service at every single level was a nightmare. The property itself is stunning as are the rooms. I promise to update this review when the stay is complete to let you know what my experience is. I am trying to keep and open and positive mind and hope that we just got off to a bad start, but so far - not so good. I’ve heard from colleagues in the business that Montage is not great with service issues, but had hoped that was incorrect. Monday to Thursday - so my sympathies to the poor folks who have weekend reservations. (A special shout out to Amex Platinum Concierge, who helped with some challenging dinner reservations) Keep in mind we are staying Midweek. I ended up spending a several days on line researching availability and making all the vineyard reservations myself. I received NO call back (Yes, I’m back to the caps again). First time no answer and second time I left a message to please call me. You have probably already guessed how this story ends. As well, our reservation confirmation specifically states Montage has a relationship with Aperture Vinyards and to call Concierge for a special reservation. It’s the same deal with restaurants (I get it- thanks Covid ). 2) We were told to call Concierge to help with any tasting appointments, as you have to book reservations for tastings in advance and many vinyards are already booked out. (Ok, that’s enough capitals for one paragraph, but you get the point.) Note: Our Travel Agent was finally able to get us squeezed in for an early seating, but the fact that this was ever an issue and we had to get shoe-horned into an early reservation as a favor is nuts. I have traveled to some of the best hotels in the world and never had this happen to me. There should ALWAYS be reservations put aside for hotel guests, no matter when they book. Not to mention we are guests at the hotel. Approx 2 1/2 weeks before our stay, we tried to book a reservation for the hotel’s only dinner restaurant, Hazel Hill for our Anniversary dinner. However, when you’re charging $1200++/night for a room there is no excuse for the issues we’re encountering. I understand that these are difficult times, as well I realize there are always bumps along the way with a new-ish hotel. Like several people have already posted, there are some significant issues they are having with service. We’ve been following the opening of Montage and were exited to finally book a room. We decided to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Sonoma.
